DT Day at Fitztown and a blog hop...

Well I sure hope you are all enjoying the Birthday Blog hop here at Fitztown !!

Here's what I created for my DT Day project...

I used the lovely image GARDEN 7 which can be found here.

I decided to make a few cards using one image and keep them pretty simple...
and if you know me, you know I love CAS !!

I coloured each watering can the same and added different colours to the flowers
I cut each image out using a circle die, then matted each image on a colour to compliment the flowers
I embossed white cardstock cut slightly smaller than my card-base to give some texture and interest
I used a couple of stamped images from Stampin' Up for the cards
I left one card without a sentiment so it could be given for any occassion.

I hope you liked what I've created !

Don't forget you have until May 31st to play along with us at the blog hop !!

A Crafty Birthday card

Here's a crafty birthday card I created using an image from Scrappers Delights
which can be found here.

I created it for the latest challenge at Brown Sugar Challenge Blog.

A winter Birthday card

Here's a card I created for a winter birthday...and also to try to keep cool today as it's reached about 28 or 29 degrees Celsius here and I'm refusing to turn my A/C on yet...

I'm entering this in the latest challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps - Anything Goes

Craft your HEART out !!

Here's a card I created using a lovely image Jess College Fund, which can be found here.

I'm entering it in their challenge for a chance to win a free class at Kit and Clowder and some Copic Markers...how great would that be??

I kept the card CAS and added a hand-made / distressed painted heart.  When you open the card up, it says "Craft your HEART out", but I'm having trouble getting a good pic of that...sorry !!

Challenge #215 - Frame it

I framed the image with hand-drawn woodgrain kraft paper.

I sure had fun colouring this image and grass for the card.  I've purposely left the sentiment off the front of the card, as I'm not sure if I will use it as a Birthday or Father's Day card.

The image is from INKY IMPRESSIONS and you can find it here.

I hope you'll take time to check out all the other creations by the DT at Craft Your Passion and perhaps play along with us this week for your chance to win a prize !!

Thank you...thank you very much

I created this cute thank you card using a wonderful image by La-La Land Crafts

It's my first official DT card as Guest Designer for Kit and Clowder, and I'm soooo excited.

I am old enough to remember Elvis and his famous "Thank you...thank you very much" expression, but I'm sure many of you are not !!

This image was a lot of fun to colour...and can be found here

Kit and Clowder is having a little fun this weekend
with La-La Land Crafts new releases.

Check out all the fun here.

A Pansy Candle and gift tag

So was stumped as to what make for this week's Design Team Day at Fitztown

It was easy-peasy for me to choose an image for this challenge, as I love Pansies and knew this image would make a great THANK YOU card or tag.

I decided to make something totally different with my image this week and I'm thrilled with how it turned out.

I made a candle using the image FL3 which can be found here.

I made a matching tag to go with it:

It was a lot of fun and I learned a whole lot!

Here's the basic steps to creating a candle using a coloured digi image

Step 1
Print your image on tissue paper
run taped tissue paper through your printer on some cardstock for stability
make sure you tape it with masking tape to hold it in place

Step 2
Colour your image, being careful not to press too hard or add too much wet ink to it or you will tear the tissue paper

Step 3
Cut coloured image out and place on candle

Step 4
Apply wax paper over the image and around the candle, holding tightly, and heat with your hair dryer or embossing tool (I used a hair dryer)  Make sure you heat it enough that the white part of the tissue paper blends right into the candle, but not too much to melt the candle !!

And here's the final product...

Here's the tag and candle together
(Please note that the pansy on the tag is coloured in purple and yellow like the candle, but turned out quite BLUE in my photo - sorry)

I hope I've inspired you to play along with us this week at Fitztown in our Thank You challenge !!

I'm sooooo very excited about this announcement...

For those of you who know me, know I can get pretty excited about things...
and it's hard for me to contain my enthusiasm sometimes...
so you know when I say
WOO HOO
I'm yelling it !!!

I'm soooo very excited to report that I'm a Guest Designer for

OMG...OMG...OMG...I can hardly contain my excitement...seriously..OMG.

This is such a wonderful opportunity for me !!

Kit and Clowder is a wonderful community of creative people headed by the lovely and talented Alyce Keegan (a former Krafty Girl from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps).  She's an amazingly talented lady who has put together a wonderful website offering the MOST AMAZING on-line colouring classes EVER !! (in my humble opinion)

I've been taking the Skin and Hair Class there for a little over a month and have seen tremendous improvement in my colouring skills and just in general how I look at images and colouring.  I cannot say enough about this class and the wonderful community around it.

All the classes are on-line and unlimited access is provided.  There's lot of resources, printouts and practice sheets to work on, along with feedback from Alyce Keegan to help with your progress.  It really is amazing!

There are several project-based classes too...and a wonderful Light Source class has also been added to the Skin and Hair class (and as a stand-alone class too).

There's a Facebook page too, which I've enjoyed being a part of.  There's tons of talented people posting their cards and colouring and just in general sharing their enthusiasm for copic (and other) colouring.

I hope you'll pop over to the blog and website and Facebook page and say HELLO !!

Pearls and lace

It's Monday and that means it's time for a new challenge at Craft Your Passion !!

Happy Victoria Day to my Canadian friends and followers !!
I hope you're taking time for something fun today.

Challenge #214 - Pearls and Lace

I used this really cute image LITTLE BUNNERINA from Aurora Wings which can be found here
and turned this card into a "Way to Go" card

I created the lace flower by using a piece of floral wire and adding a pearl.
I coloured with copics and am quite pleased with the shading I got on the skirt.
I've been taking the Kit and Clowder Skin and Hair Class and can really see a change in the way I colour and how I'm achieveing shading.

I hope you'll hop over to the Craft Your Passion blog and play along with us for a chance to win a prize !!

A sweet little Ballerina

I created this card for Kith and Kin's latest challenge - Monochromatic in your favourite colours.

Of course anyone who knows me, knows I love PINK, so I just had to colour up this cute image in pinks !!

You can find the image here.

I decided to leave the sentiment off this card so that I can use it for whatever I choose, when the time comes !!  I've been doing that a lot lately...I'm no sure if it's the procrastinator in me, or just smart crafting - LOL !!

I hope you'll pop over the Facebook page and join other Kith and Kin fans in creating something lovely to share with us.

On another note...
I've been working at the Skin and Hair Class over at Kit and Clowder and see quite a difference in my colouring, and certainly how I look at images. I'm working hard at getting my brain to see shading and shadows, but i feel I'm getting there with the skin.  Currently I'm working on the hair part of the class which is so in-depth..I'm loving it.  You can check out all the details about classes at Kit and Clowder here.
P.S. Kith and Kin is a sponsor over at Kit and Clowder !!

A new week...a new challenge at Fitztown

Hey everyone, it's time for a new challenge at Fitztown !

This week the Challenge #35 is Feminine creations.  Easy-peasy for most of us, as I suspect we all make lots of Feminine cards and projects.

My card this week uses a really cute Teddy Bear image which can be found here.

I coloured it with copics and added the flowers and lace to give it a really feminine touch.  I tried to do a stippling effect on the teddy bears and I think it does give a bit of texture to them.

I hope you like it, and I hope it inspires you to play along with us at Fitztown this week.

Have fun and Good luck.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

Something cool is going on at Kit and Clowder...

Hey everyone...Kit and Clowder is having a celebration !!  They've hit 1,500 fans on the website and over 1,400 on the Facebook Page.

This is the wonderful place where I've been taking an on-line class and also enjoying seeing all the wonderful creations and colouring tips from the group.  If you haven't heard of it, head on over and check it out.

The Skin and Hair Class is AMAZING and is helping me soooo much.  I can't express enough how great this class is and such value too.  It's $70 Australian. and has tons of videos and PDFs and resources...there's hours of stuff in the class !!  I've just been working on lesson 1 and 2, which is skin basics and advanced and lesson 2 begins hair techniques. There's 8 weeks of lessons, with 3 parts each (24 lessons) and the best part is you work at your own pace and post your practice sheets and Alyce Keegan will personally comment on them and give yo constructive feedback.

It's amazing...

For this weekend (until May 11th) if you sign up for the Skin and Hair Class you get the Whimsical Class for free (that's a $30 value).  Come on...who doesn't like a FREEBIE or GIFT-WITH-PURCHASE !!

Anyhow...head over the Kit and Clowder FB group or the website and see what's going on.  There are some prizes up for grabs from Saturated Canary, Kith and Kin, and Simply B Stamps too just for commenting.

I love you with all my heart

Here's a card I created for the latest Challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, Challenge #228 - Sketch

It uses a wonderful image called Hannah Hearts, which you can get here

I coloured it at a Colour-Along hosted by Alyce Keegan of Kit and Clowder.
If you don't know about Alyce or Kit and Clowder, you're missing out on something great !
Head over to the website and see what's going on there.
I'm currently taking the Skin and Hair Class at Kit and Clowder and loving it.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

It's Friday and time for a Fitztown Design Team Day for me...

Oh boy...this was a fun one...this week the theme at Fitztown is SHABBY CHIC (Challenge #34)  I've always loved seeing the shabby chic cards and scrapbook layouts, but haven't really succeeded in creating much in the Shabby Chic style, so this was a challenge for me.

I used this great image called CAR3 (which can be found here) as the starting point for my card, and figured I could turn an old truck into a Shabby Chic card pretty easily.

Hmmmm...it was an interesting journey creating this card.  I found some old distressed blue wood paper and also this grey distressed paper and thought I'd be able to incorporate it into a shabby chic card.  I used a distressing tool from Close to My Heart (which I just had to buy several years ago, and honestly this is likely the 2nd time I've used it).  Funny how we just "have to have" something and then don't use it !!  I was glad to give this lonely tool a purpose for this card !!

I coloured my image with copics and kinda mucked up the ground, but hey it's a shabby card, so I'm letting it go as is !!  I inked the edges of my coloured image and used the distressing tool around the edge of the cardstock mat to make it look "shabby". and around the shabby grey paper too.  I used some plain ol' fashioned string along the edge of the card and frayed it a bit to also give that shabby look.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with myself for having achieved a shabby look to my card, and also for adding another much-need masculine card to my stash.

I hope you'll hop over the blog and play along with us at Fitztown and create a SHABBY CHIC project of your own !!

Soooo excited to share my first creation for Kith and Kin Design Team

I'm sooo excited to share the news that I've been accepted as a Design Team Member at Kith and Kin!!

Here's my very first Design Team creation

Isn't this just the cutest image?  I love her !
I coloured her with copics and just kept my card fairly CAS
 (which is my style)
I was pleased to be able to use more of my home-made enamel dots on this creation too
(made by melting Perler beads)
I'll post another blog post with a set of how too photos for those of you wanting to know how to make these enamel dots.
The theme for this challenge is SPRINGTIME and I must give credit to my hubby for coming up with the sentiment (which I just created in WORD and printed directly on my card)

I hope you'll pop over to Facebook and join the Kith and Kin Group and perhaps play along with a challenge or two while you're there.
