Surviving an Ice Storm

Wow...this past week or so has been CRAZY but very memorable.

We were hit by an Ice Storm in the Greater Toronto Area and Georgetown was hit very hard. Here's some pics of what it looked like from inside my house:

We were without power for 4 1/2 days, and actually checked into a hotel on the 24th of December so that we could have warmth and nice Christmas morning. Thank you to my dear friend Peggy for arranging this for us. My hubby fell on the ice on the 23rd and fractured his wrist, so he's had a rough go of it, aside from turning 50 on Christmas Day. This holiday has gone by with a blur and I'm not sure we even feel like we had a Christmas.

On a brighter note; here's my son opening his stocking at the hotel room:

We had no internet/cable service until Sunday December 29th, which was tough too. Sadly we lost all the food in our fridge and freezers...I still feel sick about it as we'd stocked up really well for Christmas and the New Year with lots of food.

We are grateful for Hydro and heat and power and internet so much more now that we've experienced this Ice Storm.

I'm entering these pics into the Sassy Cheryl's Show Me Thursday Challenge, in the hopes that some good will come of the Ice Storm and I may win a prize (LOL)

A Frosty Christmas Card

Here's a card I created today. It's a cute Bugaboo image and I just couldn't resist colouring it up for two challenges.

It uses a flip-card by The Stamps of Life, and is embossed with a brick embossing folder (both borrowed from my pal Peggy - thank you!)

A Christmas SHAKER Tag

Here's a cute tag I created using two wonderful images from Meljen's Designs.

I printed the snow globe image on cardstock and used a punch to punch out the centre, fussy cut around the edge of the image...printed the Meljen's sentiment on transparency and mounted on the back of the punched out image. I tried colouring with my copics on the stars but it barely shows...not sure if I printed on the wrong side or something...anyhow...I turned it into a shaker tag and it will go on one of my son's Christmas presents. I added a bow and some wee jingle bells too. I'm sure he's gonna love it.

This is my very first challenge submission with my new Watermark on it. Woo hoo...thanks again Jane !!

I'm entering it in the following challenge:
1. Meljen's Designs - #189 - Christmas Tag s
http://meljensdesignsdt.blogspot.ca/2013/12/challenge-189-christmas-tags.html

My Watermark created by Jane, a Stitchy Angel

Here's a card I made last year for Christmas.

Check out my Brand-spankin-new Watermark image by Jane Bradshaw a OSAAT "Stitchy Angel".

I hand drew the penguin and she created it.

Isn't it just LOVELY. I'm sooooo thrilled !! THANK YOU JANE !!

I used the free site
http://www.watermarquee.com/
to add it to my image...it was quick and easy !! So thrilled with this. Thank you "Stitchy Angel" Lisa Winnard for suggesting this site.

Bugaboo Stamps - Holiday Chaos - Wednesday December 4 - Ugly Sweater

Here's a card I created using the Ugly Sweater mode: - Use Red, Silver & Green + a Snowman

The buttons on the snowman are silver...the red and green is obvious...and I chose the patterned paper 'cuz it was kinda ugly like an ugly Christmas sweater.

The inside greeting is "Have a COOL Yule" (and it just won't photograph clearly right now)

A new challenge at One Stitch at a time - #192 Use a Digi

Here's my creation for the latest challenge over at One Stitch at a Time Challenge Blog.
http://onestitchatatimechallenge.blogspot.ca/
I coloured it with Copics and cut two of the three images out and popped them up on some background paper from a big pad of Christmas 12x12 sheets I bought a few years ago. The sentiment is from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps (Birthday Trinkets). I added a few rhinestones to the corners 'cuz it needed something. I also used some RED stickles on the cupcake sprinkles and glossy accents on the cherry !!

I used a set of three cupcake images from Stitchy Bear - Alipeeps

I hope you like what I've created and inspired to join us this week at One Stitch at a Time this week for a chance to WIN the Complete set of images used by the DT in challenge # 190

. WHO WOULDNT' WANNA PLAY ALONG FOR A CHANCE TO WIN SUCH A GREAT PRIZE ??

Have a wonderfully creative week everyone.
